Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary, Mum & Dad!

around abouts 1975

Today (April 10th 2012) my Mum and Dad celebrated their 30th year as Husband & Wife, their Pearl Wedding Anniversary.
They have been together since they were 15 years of age, a loving couple for nearly 40years. A life beautifully shared.

1983...ish

13 years ago this month my Dad was diagnosed with a Malignant Meningioma Brain Tumour and was given only 2 weeks to live.
With his great fight and admirable determination he has continued to defy Doctors and with every new day he gives another middle finger to The Big C!

30 years

On Easter Sunday my parents renewed their wedding vows in celebration, it was a day filled with love & happiness, with many friends there in support.
I will forever hold fond memories for this day.

Here's to many more years to come! x

My Sister's Eyes.

The next in this little series of mine is "My Sister's Eyes."
This one has turned out in a very different way to the other two so whilst I am home this week I may re-shoot atleast "My Mother's Eyes." to something a bit clearer. Finding the differences here is a little less obvious, the most noticeable detail being that my Sister has green eyes, and her upper eye lids hang a little lower.
This edit is probably going to be the most normal of them all.

*compare this with the other 2 & you can really see how much my freckles come out in the summer!

My Mother's Eyes.

Here is the second image for this new project. I'm still trying to decide exactly where I want to go with this, at the moment I like the idea of changing the eyes.
Eyes are the biggest give away to who someone is and in replacing mine with someone else's I have found the outcomes to be totally bizarre.
As I processed this image of myself with my Mother's eyes, my boyfriend couldn't look at it. To him it was my face with the eyes of a 50 year old woman - quite an eerie thought.
These pictures are not just a merge of two images but a creation of a new person.

My Family and I. (My Brother's Eyes)

This is the first of a new series of images I have planned. Inspired by those face collages and the simple fact that today my brother is visiting.
One thing I am always interested in when I meet people and members of their families is what similarities in their features I can find; the fact that they may have their Mother's eyes, their Father's nose, the same shaped face as their Grandma. I love being able to spot these little things, the little things that connect people together.

Eyes can be the biggest hint to a person's genetics, and they alone can ruin a person's attempt at hiding who they are/were.

So here is my first family self portrait, using my brother's eyes. I see more of myself in him than I do anyone else in my family. We share the same dark features and are the only ones to have brown/hazel eyes. His however, are smaller than my own and they would be described as nearer to brown than mine are, but that's half the fun - you spot they are the same, but you also spot the differences.

So far, so good, I'm enjoying having the pressure to come up with atleast one thought out image a week, some may be weaker than others but im trying :-)
